Students will receive instruction in techniques that are applicable to law enforcement from Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, wrestling, and mixed martial arts disciplines and build on the basic foundations of defense and arrest tactics principles taught by the Wisconsin Law Enforcement Standards Board. Students will also be encouraged to bring in real life examples of situations and scenarios they have experienced to work through during open mat time during class and find new techniques to utilize in the scenario.
Students are required to be sworn law enforcement officers or jailers or be certifiable as law enforcement officers or jailers.
Course Outcomes
- Graduates will be able to effectively apply Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, wrestling, and mixed martial arts techniques to gain control and manage subjects in various law enforcement situations.
- Students will demonstrate increased confidence and competence in handling physical altercations while minimizing risk of injury to themselves and others.
- Participants will develop a deeper understanding of the importance of maintaining control and restraint in use-of-force encounters, leading to safer outcomes for all involved parties.
- Graduates will be better equipped to assess threats, make split-second decisions, and respond appropriately in dynamic, real-world scenarios.
- Upon completion, students will have the skills and knowledge to integrate Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, wrestling, mixed martial arts techniques into their existing law enforcement training regimen, enhancing overall preparedness and effectiveness in the field.
