(WAUSAU, Wis.) – Northcentral Technical College (NTC) is pleased to announce the launch of a new online-focused Hospitality Management program, offering a comprehensive two-year associate degree. This program is designed to equip students with the skills and knowledge needed to thrive in the rapidly expanding hospitality industry in Central Wisconsin and beyond.

The growing hospitality industry has resulted in a high demand for the best, brightest, friendliest and most hospitable individuals to lead the area's hotel, lodging and resort industries into the future. NTC’s hospitality management program aims to fill this gap by preparing students to excel in various roles within the hospitality sector, including management positions in hotels, resorts, restaurants and other service-oriented businesses.

Benefits of the Hospitality Management Associate Degree:

  •  Flexible Learning + Paid Internship Experience: The program instruction is delivered online with three semesters of paid internship experience, giving students the flexibility of online classes with hands-on learning opportunities in the hospitality industry. This flexibility makes it accessible to a wide range of students, including working professionals looking to advance their careers.
  • Comprehensive Curriculum: Students will receive training in key areas such as hospitality operations, customer service excellence, event planning, marketing and revenue management. Emphasis is placed on the development of Hospitality Social Service Skills as a foundation for professionalism and management in the industry.
  • Industry-Relevant Skills: The program focuses on the skills most sought after by employers in the hospitality industry. Graduates will be well-equipped to meet the dynamic needs of the market and drive innovation within their organizations.
  • Career Support: NTC offers robust career support services, including internship placement assistance, resume building, interview preparation and leadership and management skills development, ensuring that graduates are ready to build their career upon completion of their degree.

“Our program blends technical training with a difficult-to-capture hospitality social service skills component, helping our students make immediate impacts on the local industry and jumpstart their careers with both the knowledge and social skills to provide excellent hospitality,” said Dr. Brock Decker, instructor for the Culinary Arts and Hospitality Management programs.

Central Wisconsin’s hospitality industry is poised for continued expansion, and NTC is committed to developing the talent needed to sustain this growth. By enrolling in the program, students will be part of meeting the tourism and hospitality needs of our community and beyond.

“The demand of socially skilled, professional hospitality management staff in Wausau has greatly exceeded the number of qualified employees available,” said Nick Patel, President of Sunshine Hospitality. “This program aims to channel new hoteliers, resort professionals and other hospitality providers into the areas where they are needed most.”
