Emphasis is placed on learning various modalities including Swedish massage, chair massage, hot stone massage, pregnancy massage, and aromatherapy using demonstrations and hands-on practice. Learners will apply learned techniques in a supervised clinical setting, allowing them to refine their skills and gain confidence in their abilities.

Introduce learners to the theory, history, and ethics of massage therapy. Other topics include sanitation and hygiene as well as assessment and charting.

Provide learners with an understanding of the foundational principles in anatomy, physiology, and pathology essential for success in the field of massage therapy. The composition of the body will be introduced, and learners will gain knowledge about each body system as well as disorders and medical conditions associated with them. Special attention will be given to the muscular and skeletal systems and learners will locate and palpate major muscles and bony landmarks throughout the body.

Examines proven strategies designed to help learners achieve greater personal, academic, and professional success. Learners will apply personal responsibility thinking and behaviors; self- management, awareness, and motivation strategies; as well as interdependence skills to develop a proactive life plan.

Provide learners with knowledge and skills in modalities such as sports massage, myofascial release, and hydrotherapy. Other topics include working with infants, children, and elderly clients, as well as clients who have disabilities and those with a history of cancer. Learners will apply learned techniques in a supervised clinical setting, allowing them to refine their skills and gain confidence in their abilities.

Promotes a deeper understanding of musculoskeletal anatomy with a focus on individual muscles, muscle groups, and their actions.

Deepens learners understanding of massage therapy principles and the ability to apply them effectively in their future careers. Learners will also be armed with the knowledge to start their own massage business, including the discussion of topics such as state laws, legal requirements, start-up, finances, and marketing, and a strong emphasis will be placed on ethics.
