Intro to Hardwood Grading (10465179)

Expands of the skills previously introduced through the use of more advanced standard grade classifications and methods.  Learners build additional experience in the grading of hardwood lumber and logs and enhance their merchandising knowledge and understanding with emphasis on hands-on exercises and techniques.

Hardwood Lumber Grading And Merchandising (10465180)

Hardwood Sawing, Edging, And Trimming (10465166)

In this hands-on course, students will apply an efficient process for converting logs into lumber while maximizing profits. Topics covered: opening face and log positioning on the carriage, applying NHLA standard grading rules at the edger and upgrading lumber at the trim saw.

Advanced Hardwood Lumber Inspection (10465167)

Building on the NHLA’s standard grading rules covered in the Hardwood Grading & Merchandising class, learners will hone their skills through additional instruction and hands-on practice. Species exception rules will also be covered.
