Weekend College students have all the same services available to them that traditional classroom-based students have including financial aid, the library, student activities, counseling and other student services. Northcentral Technical College is committed to offering convenient, accessible hours for Weekend College students.

Students Services-Reception Area
At Northcentral Technical College, we are committed to student success. Our full range of student services will help support you along your learning journey.

The Student Services reception area is open Monday through Thursday 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m., Friday 7:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. and Saturday from 7:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. to assist you in taking the next step.

Financial Aid
The financial aid program at NTC helps students continue their education by offering loans, scholarships, grants and work-study programs to students who qualify for assistance. When you apply for aid, your family’s financial resources will be used to determine your need for financial help.

To apply for financial aid, you must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) after January 1 for the following school year. Applications can be completed at any time, but it is recommended that you apply at least six weeks prior to the start of classes. The FAFSA is available on the web at www.fafsa.ed.gov. The FAFSA typically takes approximately two weeks to process.

You must meet the following criteria to be considered for financial aid:

  • Have financial need
  • Have a high school diploma, GED or have the ability to benefit
  • Be enrolled as a regular student in an eligible program
  • Be enrolled for at least six credits per semester (three credits during summer term)
  • Be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident of the United States
  • Maintain academic progress toward completion of an associate degree or diploma
  • Agree to use any federal student aid received solely for educational purposes

For additional information contact Student Services or Financial Aid for an appointment at 715.675.3331, Ext.1028.

Library
NTC Library Services are here to support the needs of students, faculty, staff and district residents. During the academic year the NTC library in Wausau is open Monday through Thursday form 7:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The library is open Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. during the summer and over breaks. Smaller collections of library materials (primarily for on-campus use) are available at the regional NTC campuses.

The library provides services and resources to support the NTC curriculum as well as students preparing for career programs. Services available in the NTC Wausau library include one-on-one reference assistance, individual and group instruction, workshops, classroom presentations, and in-depth research help. Computers, printers, a scanner, photocopier, preschool story area, informational displays, VCR viewers and group study areas are all available in the library. A number of the workstations have Zoom Text, and one has a large screen monitor as well.

A wide variety of resources including books, DVDs, VHS tapes, CDs, audiocassettes, slides, standard reference materials such as dictionaries and encyclopedias, as well as current materials such as magazines, journals and newspapers are available in the NTC Wausau library. The library’s Online Catalog (OPAC) provides information about the availability of specific materials. The OPAC, as well as a wide variety of resources in electronic format (encyclopedias, dictionaries, subject related reference materials, newspaper, magazine, and journal articles, directories and government publications) can be accessed from the library’s web page:  ntc.edu/ntclibrary. Basic access instructions are also available on the library’s web page.

Most of the library’s electronic resources, which are available to persons using an on-campus computer at any NTC campus, are also available to NTC students, faculty, and staff when working off campus. Materials at the Wausau Campus can usually be sent to patrons at the regional campuses or to the homes online students. The library also provides interlibrary loan services for those who need materials that are not available at an NTC library.

In addition to the information available on the library’s web page, staff that can help you with your reference and research needs are available at the NTC library in Wausau (call 888.NTC.7144 or 715.675.3331 Ext. 4115 or email library@ntc.edu).

Our library staff will help you find information and help answer reference and research questions. All students and residents of the NTC district may access and use the library resources and services at each of the campuses.
