Learning Center Hours & Locations
NTC’s district-wide Learning Centers offer a wide variety of academic services. Whether you are just beginning your college journey, returning to school after many years, or need academic support in your coursework, the Learning Center instructors and staff are here to help. Student assistance is offered in five distinct instructional areas: Adult Basic Education-GED/HSED, College Prep, English Language Learning, Academic Support and Career Services.
Adult Basic Education – GED/HSED
Adult Basic Education offers individuals a self-paced, quiet and friendly environment to earn the General Education Development (GED) or High School Equivalency Diploma (HSED). Upon completion, students are prepared to begin their job search or apply to college.
Please note: GED/HSED test changes are coming. Complete the series by December 2013 to prevent having to start over. Find out more...
College Prep
These courses are intended for students who have taken the Accuplacer and need to increase their academic skills to meet the NTC entrance requirements. Assistance is available in the areas of math, writing and reading. Learning plans are catered specifically for each individual student.
English Language Learning
The
English Language Learning (ELL) program at NTC is designed for adults whose native language is not English. Classes are offered at the beginning, intermediate and advanced levels. ELL instructors and staff will help you set goals and choose classes to meet your needs. NTC also offers an Intensive English Program for international students.
Academic Support
Academic Support at the Learning Center is specifically designed to assist students who are currently enrolled in a class or area of study at NTC. Instructor-led academic support is provided to students who require additional help with reading, writing and math skills in general education and degree-specific courses. Our College Success Series will help you develop or fine-tune your academic skills and support you throughout your education.
Career Services
Career Decisions classes provide a starting point for job seekers. Whether preparing for that first career, changing occupations or facing unemployment, students will learn about career options and NTC program availability, as well as current workforce needs and requirements.
