Beginning Beekeeping

Optional Field Day (Saturday, May 4) A bee suit will be required for the field day, which can be purchased with the class or on your own.
Learning topics:
- Biology and lifecycle of a bee
- Beekeeping equipment
- Beehive placement and protecting a hive from predators
- How to install a package of bees and a nucleus colony
- How and when to feed a hive
- Basic treatments for disease and pests
Costs
Three part workshop: $175

Optional Field Day: $75

Advanced Beekeeping
Tuesdays, May 21, 28 & June 4, 2024
5:00pm - 7:00pm
Learning topics:
- hoosing hives best suited for splitting or grafting queens
- How to setup a "starter hive"
- Importance of pesticide exposure on your bees and procedures to follow after possible bee kill
- Registering your hives with the State of Wisconsin
- Inspecting splits for emerging queens
Plus students get their own queen cell for their hive!
Bee suit is REQUIRED for all class dates!

Cancellation Policy
An attendee must notify NTC of a cancellation prior to the beginning of the event in order to have fees removed or a refund issued. Attendees who do not attend without notifying Continuing Education will be responsible for payment of all course fees and will not be eligible for a refund.
